Virginia Belle (Perry) Claycomb passed away at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at the age of 87. She was born to Theodore Clement Perry and Leona Cassandra Sidener in Pratt, Kansas on August 21,1926. Mrs. Claycomb was raised on a farm near Fowler and Meade, Kansas until the age of 10. Then she and her family moved to Lindsborg, Kansas, where she graduated high school. She attended business school in California and Kansas State University. She married Charles Merillat Claycomb January 27, 1946, in Manhattan, KS They then traveled by train to New Orleans, Louisiana, for her husband to play trumpet with the Don Reid Orchestra. They moved to Guymon, Oklahoma, April of 1948. She worked for General Telephone Company as an operator and a secretary for 16 years retiring in 1973. Virginia was active as a Girl Scout Leader, in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, in DAR, Questers, Garden Club, and Shepherd Group of Bella Vista, Arkansas. She was a member of Victory Memorial Methodist in Guymon and Bella Vista Community Church in Arkansas. Virginia was quite artistic creating myriad projects in knitting, sewing, tole painting, and china painting in her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles; her parents, and one sister, Margaret Louise (Perry) Zuspann of Denver, Colorado. Virginia is survived by daughters Linda Sue (Claycomb) Quinter and her husband Ken of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, and Sandra Lee (Claycomb) Hedrick and her husband Steve of Hooker, Oklahoma. She is also survived by grandchildren Travis Lee Quinter, Allentown, PA; Karmyn Dee (Hedrick) Heckart of Perryton, TX; Todd Lyle Quinter of Petersburg, PA; and Kaleb Wynn Hedrick of Hooker, OK. In addition she is survived by great grandchildren: Emma Grace Heckart, Dawson Kory Heckart, Kaelyn Hope Heckart, and McKenzie Hedrick.
