Mary O. Witherspoon

Mary O. Witherspoon, 87, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Liberal Good Samaritan Center in Liberal, Kansas. She was born September 22, 1929 at Pickens, Arkansas, the daughter of Arthur and Aldonia (Livingston) Dodds. She married Richard Witherspoon Sr. on January 10, 1961 at Pickens, Arkansas. He preceded her in death in 1970. Mary moved to Liberal, Kansas with her husband in 1968. She worked as a Seamstress. Mary enjoyed sewing, cooking, entertaining,and puzzles. She was a member of Bibleway Church of God In Christ where she served in many positions including Church Mother, Church Secretary, Treasurer, Pastor's Aide, and a member of the Sewing Circle for many years. She is survived by Five Daughters, Delois Terry and husband Maurice of Liberal, KS, Erma Moore of Ft. Worth, TX, Gloria Bailem and husband Pastor Steven of Liberal, KS, Margaret Simmons of Mobile, AL, Bernestine Britt of Kansas City, MO; Five Sons, Frederick Witherspoon and wife Tammy of Arlington, TX, Michael Witherspoon of Liberal, KS, James Witherspoon and wife Essie of Liberal, KS, Richard Witherspoon Jr.and wife Velma of Milwaukee, WI, Terry Witherspoon and wife Angela of Kansas City, MO; One Sister, Georgia Ollison and One Brother, Jonathan Dodds both of Warren, Arkansas. 46 Grandchildren, many Great Grandchildren and Several Nieces & Nephews. She was also preceded in death by Six Children and One Sister. Visitation will be 10:00 am-8:00 pm Thursday January 19th at Miller Mortuary. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am Friday January 20 the at Bibleway Church of God In Christ with Superintendent Lawrence Johnson and Pastor Steven Bailem officiating.
