In loving memory of Effie Mardell Taylor Effie Mardell Taylor, 88, of Liberal, died on Sunday, February 16th, 2020 at Southwest Medical Center. She was born June 6th, 1931, in Liberal, KS to Irwin and Mildred White. On April 29th, 1949 Mardell was united in marriage with William R. "Dick" Taylor in Clayton, New Mexico; he preceded her in death. Mardell attended grade school at Blue Bell School House in rural Seward County and was a graduate of Liberal High School; class of 1949. At a very young age, Mardell discovered her love for singing and continued to sing her entire life throughout the community. Mardell loved spending time with her family and opened up her home to those in need. She was also an active member of the Liberal community where she was involved in many groups and organizations including Rainbow Girls, PTA, Seward County 4H, Seward County Fair Board. Mardell was a lifetime member of the Pershing Ave Christian Church which later became the Central Christian Church, where she served as Music Director and also held many other positions. She and her husband enjoyed conducting estate sales. Survivors include one son, Jerry Taylor and wife Debra of Wichita, KS; one daughter, Carla Wilson of Liberal, KS; grandchildren, Jamie Mathias of Wichita, KS; Joel Taylor and fiancé Becky Ramm of Wichita, KS, Zachary Taylor and wife Brittany of Pine Bush, NY; Lindsay and husband Floyd Ancira of Salina, KS; great grandchildren, Finnigan and Evelyn Mathias of Wichita, KS; Remington Taylor of Wichita, KS; Brooklyn Taylor of Pine Bush, NY; Kambri Garrett of Goodland, KS, Kensey Garrett of Hays, KS, Kelby Garrett of Julesburg, CO; one sister, Samantha and husband, Junior Stuck of Cushing, OK; one sister in law, Katherine White of Wichita, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She was also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Edwin, Carl, and Robert White. Viewing will be 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Friday, February 21, 2020 at Miller Mortuary. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Central Christian Church. Burial will follow at the Liberal City Cemetery.
