Janice Gowens

Janice Ann Gowens, 76, of Liberal, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at her home in Liberal, KS. She was born on April 26, 1944 to Earl and Lorene (Rogers) Dorris at Dexter, MO. On December 26, 1981 she married Earl Gowens at Phoenix, AZ; he preceded her in death in 1985. She attended school at Liberal High School; class of 1962. Janice had worked in Housekeeping as a supervisor at the Meade District Hospital and in Housekeeping at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal before retiring in 2018. She had also worked at Liberal Good Samaritan Center before working at Southwest Medical Center. Janice loved music, enjoyed singing, playing the bass guitar, crafts, gardening, fishing, and baking. She was also a Webelos Scout Den Mother when her son was in Webelos. She was a former member of the Anthony Ladies Club, Agape Guild, and the Silver Eagle Motorcycle Club, and the Church of the Nazarene in Pratt, KS. Janice is survived by her, Daughter, Rosetta Serrano and husband Raul of Turpin, OK; Son, Gary Pitzer and wife Rachelle of Garden City, KS; Two Brothers, Jack Dorris and wife Pam of Liberal, KS, James Dorris and wife Jane of Amarillo, TX; Four Granddaughters, Alisha Maturey, Amelia Diaz, Breanna Randall, Braylee Pitzer; Grandson, Brandon Angwin; Five Great-granddaughters, Abigail Wallace, Alivia Wallace, Aniya Wallace, Aubrie Matruey, Isabella Angwin; Three Great-Grandsons, Ayeron Diaz, Chaise Smith, Christian Randall. She was also preceded in death by her parents. There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place. A Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 2:00pm at the Miller Mortuary Chapel in Liberal.
