Gus Riley

Augustus James "Gus" Riley, 16, of Liberal, passed away early Sunday, February 23, 2025 near his home. 

He was born on August 25, 2008 to David and Heidi (Rhine) Riley at Liberal, KS.Gus was a Sophomore at Liberal High School where he excelled in the classroom with many academic achievements. He was an adamant gamer, adventurous, loved animals, exploring, and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed snowboarding, fishing, deer hunting and water sports. Gus also enjoyed restoring and working on cars; his current project was restoring a 76' Chevy C10 truck.  

Gus is survived by his Parents, David and Heidi Riley, of Liberal; Brother, Jackson David Riley of Manhattan, KS; Grandparents, Leo and Linda Riley of Liberal; Lory Rhine of Liberal, KS. 

He was preceded in death by his Grandfather, Roger Rhine. 

There will be no public viewing. 

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the First Southern Baptist Church, with Todd Brown, officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests Memorial Donations be made payable to the "Gus Riley Scholarship Fund" in care of Miller Mortuary, PO Box 826, Liberal, KS 67905-0826.
