Juanita Frances Brown, 60, of Liberal, KS passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at the Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan KS.

She was born on March 26, 1962 to Conrad and Petrita (Gonzales) Martinez in Clayton, NM.

Frances graduated from Keyes High School in Keyes, OK. She went on to obtain her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, OK. Upon graduating from OPSU she briefly taught at the High School in Felt, OK. In August 1997 Frances began her career Seward County Community College where she taught developmental English and was a former Director of Academic Achievement. While at SCCC she was also an advisor for the Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO), active with the Saints Booster Club, and a Mentor for SCCC Migrant Education Program, Via Fort Scott CommunityCollege. Frances was a recipient of the NISOD (National Institute For Staff and Organizational Development) Award.

Frances was also a strong community supporter where she assisted with voter registrations and serving as a volunteer with the American Red Cross; helping organize & coordinate Blood Drives with the American Red Cross. In addition to the community organizations that Frances assisted with she was also the President of the George Strait Fan Club. Frances was an active member of the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Liberal, KS.

Frances is survived by her Daughter, Ashley Strother and husband Tyrel of Manhattan, KS; Son, Philip Brown of Liberal, KS;
Granddaughters, Aubrey Brooke Strother and Lara Elizabeth Strother; Two Grandsons, Cade David Strother and Logan Reed Strother; Father, Conrad Martinez of Keyes, OK; Six Sisters, Stella Lucero and husband Brian of Liberal, KS, Roberta Richard and husband Ernest of Keyes, OK, Pat Martinez of Liberal, KS, Dolly Swart of Guymon, OK, Rosie Carter of Beebe, AR, Julie Huffman and husband Ross of Naches, WA; Brother, Cecil Maynes of Laverne, OK; numerous Nieces & Nephew.

She was preceded in death by Mother, Petrita Teresa Martinez; Sister, Maria Sandoval; Nephew, RC Manriquez, Two Nieces, Matie Huffman and Maria Elena Sandoval.

Viewing will 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Miller Mortuary.

Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Liberal.

Funeral Mass will 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Liberal.

Cremation will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Frances Brown Scholarship Fund in care of Miller Mortuary PO Box 826 Liberal, KS 67905-0826.
