ELENA GARCIA-ZUNIGA

Elena Garcia Zuniga, 89, died Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal. She was born August 18, 1924 at Santa Barbara Chihuahua, Mexico, the daughter of Gregorio and Anastasia Gonsalez Zuniga. She married Jesus Garcia at Juarez, Chihuahua Mexico on May 10,1944. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1984. She was a Homemaker and enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and her family. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Liberal, KS. Her survivors include two daughters - Teresa Torrez and husband Ralph of Liberal, KS, Guadalupe Jimenez and husband Armando of Garden City, KS; two sons - Felipe Garcia and wife Mary Torrez of Seymour, TX, Lorenzo Garcia and wife Bonnie of La Luz, NM; two brothers - Anacleto Zuniga of Ulysses, KS, Inganio Zuniga of Hash, NM; two Sisters - Antonia Zuniga of Juarez, Mexico, Francisca Zuniga of Las Vegas, NM. 18 Grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 27 great great Grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one son- Ismael Zuniga Garcia, one daughter-Carmen Carmarena Garcia, two brothers and one sister, and one great great granddaughter. A rosary/vigil service will be held at 8:00 Friday, March 14, 2014 at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Liberal. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Cremation will follow the service.
