Eartha Mason

Eartha Mae Mason, 79, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at her granddaughter’s home in Bailey, Colorado.

She was born August 10, 1941 in Leflore County, Swiftown, Mississippi; the daughter of Paul Chandler and Elola (Chandler) Hughes.

Eartha was a longtime resident of Liberal, Kansas and married her husband of 46-years, Richard T. Mason on October 17, 1971 in Liberal, Kansas; he preceded her in death on October 7, 2017.

Eartha was a God-fearing woman who took pride in community involvement and spent her life advocating for equality of all people.  She received the A.H. Smith Service award on February 21, 2015.   She attended Christian Life Center and Church for All Nations.  She has worked at Panhandle Eastern, National Beef, Southwest Medical Center, Franco Auto Sales and most recently for Mr. Charles Marcellus.

Eartha leaves to mourn a sister, Susie Martin; 2 sons, Lawrence (Tracey) Martin and Jeffery Martin; step-daughters, Pepper (Terry) Caldwell and Monique Mason-Kelly; 7 grandchildren, Mandy (Tracy) Fenter, Voncell Reynoso, Alyssa Tatro, Mahogany Mason-Kelly, Turquoise Mason-Kelly, Jordan Martin, and Noah Lackey; 7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Eartha was also preceded in death by brothers, Leo Chandler and Paul Chandler; sister, Chrysanthemum Johnson; step-daughters, Tamara Mason and Rita Mason.

Eartha had instructed for her body to be cremated.

The family will be Celebrating Eartha’s life in a private Memorial Service to be held at a later date.

In remembrance of Eartha, the family requests everyone to carry out acts of generosity and kindness by showing love to others.
