Donna Sue Van Buren

Donna Sue Van Buren, 76, of Liberal, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas. She was born on August 27, 1941 to Sherman and Dorothy (Robertson) Morlen at Springfield, MO. On March 10, 1956 she married Larry Van Buren at Yates Center, KS; he survives. Donna and her family moved from Springfield, MO to Iola, KS when she was a young child. She was a graduate of Iola High School in Iola KS. Shortly after marrying she and Larry moved to the Los Angeles, California area for a short period of time before returning to St. Joseph, MO. In 1962 they moved to Wichita, KS then to Liberal in 1966. After moving to Liberal Donna went to work on the OB and Med Floors at Southwest Medical Center. She later went to work as a Cashier for USD480, from which she retired. Donna enjoyed reading, crocheting, roller skating when she was younger and singing in the church choir. She was an active member of the First Christian Church of Liberal, where she taught Sunday School, was active in Bible School and helped out wherever she could. Donna was loved by everyone. Donna is also survived by her Son- Robert J Van Buren of Liberal, KS; Daughter, Teresa Patton and husband Donnie of Liberal, KS; Father- Sherman Morlen of Liberal, KS; Three Brothers- Michael Ray Morlen and wife Pat of Liberal, Sherman Allen Morlen and wife Cathy of Longview, TX, James Wayne Morlen of Garden City, KS; Two Sisters- Shirley Ann Harbour of Ulysses, KS, Catherine Marie McGhee of Liberal, KS; Five Grandchildren; Three Great Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her Mother Dorothy and Daughter- Penny Marie Dunbar. A Viewing will be 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Miller Mortuary, Liberal, KS.
