˜ Bertha "Hazel" Swink, 96, passed away November 1, 2012 in Redlands, CA where she lived since 2003. Hazel was born May 8, 1916 in Kismet, KS to Elmer and Bertha Shufelberger.˜ She attended school in Sublette, KS and graduated from High School in Liberal, KS.˜ She raised her family in a Seward County farming community 5 miles south of Satanta, KS, later moving to Liberal and residing there for almost 30 years. She spent 14 years as a teacher of the Handicapped in Liberal and also volunteered for many years on Election Boards, Red Cross, and the Liberal Tourist Center.˜ Hazel is survived by sons, Eldon Swink and Merlin Swink; two daughters, LaVesta Locklin and Tammy Swink; a sister, Marifae Robinson of Kingman, AZ; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.˜ She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrel, two daughters, Elva & Merna, and 8 siblings. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Dudley Township Cemetery, Satanta, KS with Rev. Dr. Kelvin Heitmann presiding. Friends may call at Miller Mortuary 3:00-6:00 P.M. Friday.
