Bernaline Blanche "Sally" (Foster) Martin was born January 4, 1928, in Pawnee City, NE, to Bernie U. Foster and Mary Aline (Green) Foster.˜ She died March 22, 2013 in Liberal, KS. Sally graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1946 and attended the University of Nebraska.˜ She married John F. Martin on February 17, 1950, in Pawnee City.˜ They lived in Pawnee City, Fullerton, and Columbus, NE and Topeka, KS before moving to Liberal, KS in 1962. She is survived by her husband, John; five children, Sara Martin of Vancouver, WA; Pat Martin of Wichita, KS; Sally Odom of Yukon, OK; Joe Martin of Dallas, TX; Mike Martin of Merriam, KS; one brother, Dan Foster of Hayesville, NC; one sister, Susan Adams of Vermillion, KS; sixteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.˜ She was preceded in death by her parents. Sally worked at Peoples Travel Agency from which she retired in 1991 after traveling the world.˜ She served on the USD 480 Board of Education for 12 years where she served as president and was instrumental in getting the new high school built.˜ She was a lifetime member of the Southlawn School PTA and the Liberal High School PTA, serving as president for both organizations.˜ While serving at Southlawn, she was instrumental in starting the Bicycle Safety Program.˜ She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
